An online content creator is someone who produces, uploads, broadcasts and shares videos and/or livestreams to an online audience. The main types of content creators are YouTubers, TikTokers and Twitch streamers. Because they are releasing content to an audience, content creators are inherently a form of celebrity and range in their level of fame depending on how successful they are.

Tendencies[]

The left-wing tendency[]

While this doesn't apply to all creators, a majority of creators hold left-of-center political views. The potential reasons likely stem from the fact that creators have creative personalities, and the creation of art/content necessitates:

The above qualities are exhibited in the vast majority of successful content creators, and are associated with left-wing and progressive thinking. On the other hand, right-leaning people tend to prioritize tradition and authority, and are far more fearful of social change and difference. They generally hold the view that society has peaked, and social order is now in decline because of subversive marginalized groups who need to be stopped. Right-wing analysis is typically rooted in traditionalism and as such is usually superstitious and anti-intellectual in nature (which is partly why modern right-wingers often misleadingly present themselves as "libertarian"). All of this means conservative individuals tend not to be particularly creative (though this is obviously not universal).

The other main reason is that content creators are overwhelmingly young (typically between late teens to early 30s), and in modern times, young people are much more likely to be left-wing than older people.

The materialist tendency[]

While this also doesn't apply to all creators, a majority of creators are irreligious and not superstitious. This includes being atheist or agnostic and not believing in the paranormal. This is likely due to the fact that religion and superstition can often feel too restrictive and traditional for creative people, who tend to be more predisposed towards rational and free-thinking (though this is obviously not universal). The other main reason is that content creators are overwhelmingly young (typically between late teens to early 30s), and in modern times, young people are much more likely to be irreligious than older people.
